Weeks before The Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes were named the “Most Beautiful Place in America” we were there enjoying the afternoon at one of our favorite beaches on Lake Michigan. We love this beach because it seems secluded and away from everything. The view of Lake Michigan reminds me of an ocean, it stretches out in front you as far as you can see without seeing land on the other side. There is an inlet river that comes in giving the perfect, clearest spot for kids to play in without worrying about waves knocking them over which then gives way to the river whose bottom is completely made up of rocks, which have been smoothed over by the waters. In the near distance you have the view of the enormous, awesome sand dunes. And then if you want to play in the rough waves of Lake Michigan you can do that too! It’s especially fun with a body board.
After we spent a few hours on the beach and playing in the water it was time to go see the awesome view from the top of the sand dunes. Even though we go to the sand dunes every year, the view never gets old.
