    Back on the Ice

It' summertime so it doesn't seem like we should be freezing watching Hunter play hockey while it's in the 80's outside, but that's what were doing now that summer hockey has begun.  I am so glad Hunter is able to skate this summer, just in the few sessions he has had so far he has learned so much and continues to improve and be more aggressive each time. And to see him cruise around on his ...

  • The Most Beautiful Place in America

The Most Beautiful Place in America

Weeks before The Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes were named the "Most Beautiful Place in America" we were there enjoying the afternoon at one of our favorite beaches on Lake Michigan.  We love this beach because it seems secluded and away from everything.  The view of Lake Michigan reminds me of an ocean, it stretches out in front you as far as you can see without seeing land on the other side. There is an inlet ...

    Corn on the Cob

Snap, Crackle, Poppin' - It's that time of year where the corn is just coming in season and boy o' boy is it YUMMY!!!  Too bad Hunter can't enjoy eating it off the cob this year because of missing one front tooth and the other one loose, but he isn't missing out totally ~ I have to cut it up for him so he can still enjoy it but Zander on the other hand won't touch it ...

    Neighbors

Neighbors, aaaahhhh neighbors, you either love 'em or hate 'em and there are a few neighbors that we definitely love more than others and that's putting it kindly.  Why does it always feel that you get neighbors who are the total opposite of everything you know and do and they end up right next door to you? These neighbors get you just a little irratated on one or more things that they do or don't do ...

    Wheels

At 1 1/2 years old a toddler is just learning their balance; how to walk, run, jump, going up and down stairs,  but riding a bike?  Zander, at 1 1/2 is mastering riding his bike and balancing on a 2-wheel, razor scooter and he's pretty darn good at it!  I attribute his quick learning to watching his 6 year old brother, Hunter, and wanting nothing more than to be just like him or to be ...

    Down By The River

"Down by the river on a Friday night, pyramid of cans in the pale moonlight" Except we didn't have a pyramid of cans and it was during the HOT sunlight!  One of our favorite places to go take dip at is down by the river 5 minutes from our house.  It's crystal clear, shallow in parts and super refreshing and when I say refreshing I mean a little cold, perfect for these hot summer days we've ...

About us and the site

We are just your average family of four living in beautiful Traverse City, Michigan. We have been together for 17 years and have 2 boys, a 6 year old and a 2 year old, and 2 dogs (all we are missing is the white picket fence to make our world idyllic). We both work full time jobs and Jason just finished his Bachelor Degree in Management so our lives are a little hectic these days. We try to use laughter and level-headed communication when handling situations ~ Ha who are we kidding? The laughter part is true, but we are also a little sarcastic in our communication style, while we try our hardest to be level-headed when it comes to handling most situations, the one thing we do know is that we are going through this together and are here for each other when Sh!t I mean when life happens.
